Employer: Western Area Power Administration (Department of Energy), posting on USAJOBS, the US government's official hiring site Job title: Supervisory Accountant Location: Lakewood, Colorado Salary: $140239 to $182316 Per Year Open from 2026-10-09 to 2026-10-23 Who may apply: Grade: 14 Remote: no; telework eligible: yes Summary: As a Supervisory Accountant, you will be responsible for the leadership, direction, and oversight of financial accounting and reporting activities, including oversight of the financial statements, ensuring sufficient documentation provided to external and internal auditors, and interpret and organize implementation of GAO, OMB, Department of the Treasury, DOE, and FERC financial and budget policy initiatives; and promulgates WAPA-wide financial management directives and procedures. Duties: As a Supervisory Accountant, you will: You will serve as a principal accounting and reporting advisor to the Comptroller, the CFO, WAPA's Senior Officials, and technical liaison to Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Finance and Accounting and U.S. Treasury, Bureau of Fiscal Service, General Accounting Office (GAO), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and other regulatory entities in matters related to WAPA's financial accounting and reporting obligations. Manages, supervises, staff, plans, and evaluates the Financial Reporting team ensuring financial integrity. Serves as senior advisor and subject matter expert regarding financial accounting and financial reporting obligations. Ensures accounting and financial reporting activities and deliverables are conducted and reported in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), DOE, GAO, OMB, and Treasury. Facilitate authoritative review of newly issued legislative and regulatory guidance and standards. Plans, coordinates, and manages month and year-end financial reporting and ensures proper fiscal closes/openings. Coordinates financial audits and remediate audit findings.
