Agency Dept of State Treasurer Division Financial Operations Division Job Classification Title Accountant IV (NS) Position Number Grade NC16 About Us Our mission is to preserve, protect and sustain the state’s pension and healthcare plans, generate investment returns in excess of comparable public pensions, properly account for and report on all funds that are deposited, invested, and disbursed through the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer, assure the financially sound issuance of debt for state and local governments, maintain the state’s “AAA” bond rating, and provide exemplary service across all divisions of the Department. Description of Work This position leads the preparation of the annual financial statements including all note disclosures for the SRPs for audit by an external auditor. The position monitors and reconciles the investment management fees and other fees accrued at the custodian by the SRPs. The position prepares instruction letters to the custodian to facilitate the payment of these fees. This accountant position assists in the preparation of the NC Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. In addition, this accountant will work through special projects related to the SRPs as the solutions involves both divisions. This position will also work with the annual and monthly operating budget of the SRPs to ensure that all Board changes are made and there is sufficient funds to satisfy payments for operations. This position has extensive interaction with the Retirement Division staff (RSD), the external auditor, the custodian and record keeper for the Supplemental Plans, and the Office of the State Controller (OSC).
